Đậu xanh vo sạch rồi ngâm nước 3-4 tiếng cho mềm, sả lại cho sạch rồi đem hấp cho đậu chín mềm, đổ đậu vào cối đem giã nhuyễn hoặc cho vào máy xay nhuyễn mịn. Lá dứa đem rửa sạch rồi cắt khúc ngắn cho vào máy xay sinh tố, đậy nắp và xay nhuyễn sau đó đổ ra lọc lấy nước cốt lá dứa.
Cho nước cốt dừa vào tô, thêm 120ml nước, xíu muối, đường và khuấy đều cho hòa tan mới cho bột năng, bột gạo vào cùng rồi khuấy đều cho bột tan hết. Chia hỗn hợp làm 2 phần đều nhau, 1 phần bạn cho đậu xanh vào khuấy đều, phần còn lại cho nước cốt lá dứa vào khuấy đều.
Đặt xửng hấp lên bếp và cho khuôn bánh vào cùng, nấu cho nước sôi lên sau đó bạn múc 2 muôi bột màu lá dứa hoặc đậu xanh tùy theo ý thích, đậy vung và hấp khoảng 5 phút cho bánh chín mới đổ tiếp 1 lớp bột khác xen kẽ cho đẹp mắt. Cứ như vậy bạn đổ cho hết bột và hấp thêm 10 phút là bánh chín hẳn.
Bánh chín lấy ra để cho nguội sau đó dóc bánh ra khỏi khuôn, cắt thành những miếng to hay nhỏ tùy theo sở thích để thưởng thức.
